Types of Programs and How to Apply


Types of Study Abroad Programs

The University of New Mexico sponsors a growing number of excellent study abroad programs around the world. At UNM, you can receive academic credit for this type of experience. Students may also be able to apply their financial aid to the program. At UNM, you can choose from several types of programs: UNM Exchanges, The UNM Rome Program, UNM Short-Term Programs and Affiliate (non-UNM) Provider Programs.

Immerse yourself by attending a college or university abroad. UNM students will participate full-time in this program - courses you take at the UNM partner/exchange institution can be applied toward your degree. Click on the UNM Exchange Program link to download a checklist on how to apply.

UNM Rome Program (for DEADLINES associated with UNM Rome Program Click Here)

Take your summer or semester coursework in Rome, Italy! Students attending the Rome Program are registered for UNM courses that are focused in art, art history. Considerable class time is spent on site studying original works of art and architecture in and around Rome.  On some weekends, students will travel to such ancient cities as Pompeii, Naples, and Paestum, as well as the Renaissance centers of Florence, and Venice.  UNM Short-Term Programs

Various UNM trip leaders sponsor trips for groups of UNM students. Short-Term study abroad programs feature UNM courses and incorporate learning objectives and activities related to a specific area of study.
